Our Values

At FBC Gunter we value:

Truth: God has perfectly spoken in and through His word and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Tim 3:16; Heb 1:1-2); We will follow the truth of God’s word over the traditions of Man. We will ground everything we do in the truth of God’s word.

Transformation: God transforms people through the truth of the gospel which results in all of life being an act of worship (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Corinthians 10:31) We will strive to make lifelong disciples instead of merely producing converts. We will devote ourselves to gospel living over legalism & license We will learn, relate, and communicate the gospel to each other as the means of transformation.

Community: God uses the transforming power of the gospel to create a community of worshipers who gather corporately for worship then scatter to participate in smaller missional communities for spiritual growth and mission. (Acts 2:42-47; John 13:35) We value and practice partnership over traditional membership We value and build gospel centered relationships over man centered relationships We will build deep, rich community over the more traditional club mentality of church.

Mission: God has redeemed a people for himself called the church and given us the responsibility and joy of partnering with God on His mission to spread a passion for the supremacy and glory of Jesus throughout the nations. (Matthew 28:18-20; John 17:18, 20:21)

We value missional living over programatic evangelism.

We value Contextualization over Church Culture:

  • Speaking to the culture with their terms NOT on their terms
  • Showing our culture the relevance of the gospel NOT making the gospel relevant
  • Maintaining a gospel foundation while remaining fluid in our forms of ministry

We value the seamless connection between mission and community.

We value fluidity in our methods over stagnation in our tradition.

We value holding the Bible in one hand & the culture in the other.

The City: God uses His community to transform and redeem culture as His people practically live out the implications of their faith (Titus 3:8; Jeremiah 29:4-7) We value the redemption and transformation of culture as the result of gospel living.
